Did you know that Group Long Term Disability remains the largest untapped market in employee benefits? This benefit is vitally important considering:
  • 1 in 4 of today's 20 year olds will become disabled before retiring*
  • About 100 million workers are without private disability income insurance*
  • The average disability lasts 31.2 months and is trending up**
So, consider growing your block of business by adding a Long Term Disability plan to your clients’ benefit package. One of our markets, Kansas City Life’s LTD plan is an excellent option.
  • Employer paid or voluntary
  • Available down to 10 lives
  • Innovative plans for virgin groups
  • Flexible contract
  • Competitive rates
  • Consultative contract comparisons
  • Customized commissions
In addition, they are offering a Progressive Disease benefit at no charge to all LTD quotes received by 6-30-2012.

Progressive Disease means a non-infectious disease or disorder of indefinite duration that causes a person to gradually become disabled as the disease becomes more severe or the symptoms of the disease become more frequent.  Examples of Progressive Disease include arthritis, degenerated disc, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, cataracts, diabetes, cancers and phlebitis.

Nearly 60% of new LTD claims involve Musculoskeletal, Nervous System, Cardiovascular, Cancer and Endocrine Disorders, which may be considered Progressive Diseases.***

A standard LTD contract will view earnings on the date of disability. However, by adding this benefit on the KCL contract, if an employee becomes disabled from a Progressive Disease the monthly earnings used to determine the monthly payment will be the greater of:
  1. the monthly earnings at the time the employee provided proof of the Progressive Disease; or
  2. the monthly earnings at the time the employee becomes disabled under this policy.
By adding the Progressive Disease benefit to your KCL LTD contract, employee's can better protect their income should one receive this unfortunate diagnosis.  This provides peace of mind and there is no penalty for those who continue to work through the disability.
